HCMC is a level I trauma facility. The hospital has 455 beds and takes up five city blocks in the vicinity of Bank Stadium. In addition, it has several clinics in East Lake and throughout Minneapolis.
Abbott Northwestern functions as part of the Allina Health network, a cluster of clinics and hospitals. It is the largest non-profit hospital in the Twin Cities. The hospital offers 627 beds in addition to teaching and other specialty medical services. A recent survey by U.S. News ranked Abbott Northwestern one of the best hospitals in America. Out of the adult services offered by Abbott Northwestern, six were ranked top 50 in the country.
University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital offers a range of medical services including pediatric surgery, neonatal and pediatric intensive care, organ transplant, oncology, bone marrow transplant, imaging, and cardiac health assessment. The hospital is located along the west bank of the Mississippi River and combines teaching through a long-standing partnership with the University of Minnesota Medical School.
This is one of the largest children’s hospitals in the country, with two hospital campuses in the Twin Cities and 381 staffed beds. Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota operates as an independent non-profit health facility and serves over 200,000 outpatient visits and 13,000 inpatient visits annually.
The University of Minnesota works with several health care institutions within Minnesota. The University of Minnesota Medical Center is the school’s university hospital. The facility takes up space on the East Bank and the West Bank along the Mississippi River. It is staffed by medical professionals who identify themselves as the University of Minnesota Physicians.
